If a song is in the public domain, it is no longer protected by copyright law.
The general copyright durations for major markets are as follows:
- United States: composed before 1925.
- United Kingdom, EU, Australia, etc.: copyright protection lasts for the life of the longest living composer/arranger/editor/librettist plus 70 years.
You will be able to search for Copyrighted arrangements once you are signed in to your account and navigate to https://www.musicnotes.com/marketplace/select/ prior to starting the upload process.
If the copyrighted song you are searching for is not returning any search results, Musicnotes does not currently have derivative rights to sell a Marketplace arrangement of it, and therefore you will not be able to upload the arrangement.
You may not upload the arrangement falsely-identified as either an Original composition or a Public Domain composition.
